Competition Rules and Guidelines
ELIGIBILITY
The competition is open to secondary and tertiary institution students within Lagos State. Participants must be bonafide students of registered institutions in Lagos State and present valid identification (school ID card, admission letter, or letter of introduction from the school head).
SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
All entries must be submitted on or before the official deadline through the approved website. Every submission must be accompanied by:
Completed entry form
Two (2) recent passport photographs in JPEG format with a file not exceeding 500kb
Proof of eligibility
Short description of the work (title, medium, dimensions, and inspiration)
Late submissions will not be accepted under any circumstances.
THEME COMPLIANCE
All artworks must reflect the official theme: My Lagos, My Art. Entries deviate from the theme will not be evaluated.
ORIGINALITY OF WORK
Entries must be the original creation of the participant. Plagiarism, tracing, or reproduction of another artist’s work is strictly prohibited which is why participants may be asked to present preliminary sketches, progress photos, or videos to verify authenticity.
MEDIUMS AND MATERIALS
Accepted categories include: paintings, drawings, and sculptures.
SIZE AND PRESENTATION
Entries must conform to the size specifications stated in the competition brief. 3D artworks must be safe, stable, and suitable for public display. Each entry should be neatly finished and clearly labeled with the participant’s name, school, and title of the work.
JUDGING CRITERIA
Entries will be assessed by a panel of qualified judges appointed by the Lagos State Ministry of Tourism based on: Creativity and originality Technical skill and craftsmanship Relevance to theme Use of materials Overall presentation and impact
AWARDS AND PRIZES
Prizes will be education scholarships and awards.
DISQUALIFICATION CONDITIONS
Applicants with false registrations, double entries and fake school identity cards will be disqualified from the competition.
COPYRIGHT
All participants will retain full copyright ownership of their submitted artworks. The Ministry shall not use any submitted work for commercial purposes without prior written consent from the artist.
CODE OF CONDUCT
All participants must maintain decorum and respect towards fellow competitors, judges, and officials. Misconduct, cheating, or providing false information will result in immediate disqualification.
